Major County Jail Overview

Major County Jail is operated by the Major County Sheriff's Office, led by Sheriff Anthony Robinson. Official county and sheriff sources place the jail and sheriff office at the same Fairview government complex address, so jail records, custody questions, and many sheriff services route through the same local office. The facility type is county jail and local detention, not a state prison. The public roster classifications observed in the research included County Jail and Hold For Another County, which means the jail can hold Major County arrestees as well as people temporarily held for another local jurisdiction.

The jail serves a rural county footprint. The county government sheriff page says deputies patrol 958 square miles and gives the population at about 7,555. Official sources did not publish a current bed rating, housing-unit map, construction date, accreditation status, pod list, or separate detention-division profile. For that reason, the most accurate public description is limited: Major County Jail is a courthouse-area county jail used for pretrial detainees, local sentenced inmates, warrant and revocation custody, release processing, transfer processing, and documented county holds.

Major County Jail Population Notes

Published population data for Major County Jail is narrow. The sheriff did not publish an annual jail report, booking total, male/female annual breakdown, average length of stay, or current rated capacity in the sources reviewed. The useful numbers are dated snapshots. The official roster API reported 15 current in-custody booking records on June 25, 2026. Prison Policy Initiative's reproduced BJS 2013 Census of Jail Facilities table listed a historical average daily population of 12 for Major County Jail. Neither number is a present-day rated bed capacity.

Those figures should be read with care. The roster count is a same-day online custody count, and the historical average daily population came from a 2013 federal jail census table as reproduced by a policy data source. Because no official current capacity figure was located, no capacity ratio or overcrowding claim can be made for Major County Jail. Oklahoma jail standards and state law use the concept of maximum rated population, but the local rated number was not found in the sheriff or county pages reviewed.

The correct local lookup tool is the Major County Jail Inmate Search. The sheriff page identifies it as the roster for people in jail at Major County Jail, and the page metadata says the inmate search is updated hourly. It is free, does not require a login, and uses a single name search box. Booking cards are sorted by booking date and link to individual booking profiles. If the person is not shown, the roster itself points users to VINELink as a release or transfer fallback.

This matters because the roster is a current county jail tool. It is not built to search every past booking, every court case, or every sentenced prisoner after transfer to state custody.

1. Open the sheriff's inmate search and confirm that the page is listing Major County Jail custody.
2. Use the Search by Name field for a first name, last name, or partial name. The research did not find a date filter or facility dropdown.
3. Open the booking card or profile to review the booking date, public photo when available, profile fields, and charge text.
4. If no match appears, check Oklahoma VINELink, then call the jail line or use the records-request process for older or non-current records.

Major County Jail Address

The jail and sheriff office share the Fairview address used across official local sources. For custody confirmation, use the jail extension rather than relying only on a roster entry. The contact page states that administration is open during weekday business hours while dispatch operates around the clock. Records requests have a narrower walk-in window, so records work should be planned separately from a general jail call.

For visitors coming from Ames, Cleo Springs, Meno, Ringwood, Chester, Isabella, or Orienta, the research found no official public-transit stop, visitor-parking fee, or ADA entrance map for the jail. Call before travel if the trip is for visitation, records, bond, or a time-sensitive custody matter.

Major County Jail Records

The online roster is useful, but it is not the only access channel. The sheriff's records page states that the Records Division maintains office records and handles open-record requests. In-person records requests are accepted Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM. Crime victims may receive one free copy of an incident report, but the victim must appear in person and provide acceptable identity verification. The page also warns that some reports can be emailed while other reports can only be released by subpoena.

Oklahoma's Open Records Act supports public access to core law-enforcement and jail-register information, including jail booking information recorded at incarceration. That does not mean every investigative report, victim record, juvenile item, medical fact, or sealed record is released online. Major County Jail Visits

Major County Jail uses no-contact video visitation through City Tele Coin. Facility visits are by appointment only, and holidays are closed. The sheriff's visitation page states that each inmate may receive one facility visit every seven days, and facility visits last 15 minutes. Visitors must bring state-issued photo ID. Visitors who are 17 or younger must be with an adult who also has state-issued photo ID. Special visits require approval from a Jail Lieutenant or Administrator.

The jail may delay visits during meals, lockdowns, or other facility needs, so a scheduled appointment is not the same as a guarantee of immediate entry.

Visitors are subject to records and warrant checks, searches, dress standards, and contraband rules. Phones, cameras, food, drinks, tobacco, and personal items are barred past the lobby. Intoxicated visitors are denied and may be arrested. Profanity, threats, loud disruption, or disrespectful behavior can end a visit.

Major County Jail Mail Money

Mail to Major County Jail must show the full first and last name and full address for both sender and recipient. The sheriff's mail rules ban lipstick, lip gloss, scents, metallic fixtures, stickers, blank paper, envelopes, stamps, social-media printouts, newspaper clippings, comic strips, greeting cards, and unauthorized inmate-to-inmate or rehab-facility correspondence. Pictures may be accepted if they are on printer paper and no larger than 4x6, but graphic, suggestive, or otherwise inappropriate pictures are not allowed.

For commissary and deposit work, Major County uses JailATM for inmate commissary and online deposits or orders. The sheriff's commissary page states that an inmate is allowed up to $200 per week. The JailATM search path uses state, facility, and last name or ID fields, and transactions require an account or sign-in.

The JailATM screen is a service search and deposit path. It should not be used as proof that a person is still in custody if the sheriff roster, VINELink, or jail staff show a different current status.

Major County Jail Medical Fees

The sheriff's medical-services page says Major County Jail provides medical services as needed. The local fee list states that there is no charge for an inmate to be seen by the medical assistant or nurse. It lists an office visit with a physician at $93, prescriptions at $5-$10, and over-the-counter medication at $0.35. Medical fees are withdrawn from commissary accounts unless the person is indigent, in which case the fees are added to court costs or fines. DOC inmates are not billed by the county for medical expenses.

HIPAA limits what jail staff can disclose about medical conditions without written consent from the inmate. Family members should not expect staff to discuss diagnoses, medications, or treatment details by phone without proper authorization.

Major County Jail Booking Release

Major County does not publish a full booking-process manual, but the roster fields show the basic public intake record. A booking can start after an arrest, warrant, court order, revocation, surrender, or transfer. Jail staff create a booking record, assign an inmate ID and booking number, enter the booking date, collect public demographic fields, add charge text, and attach a booking photo when one exists. Public profiles do not show every operational field. The inspected profile did not show bond amount, bond type, housing unit, arresting agency, or court date.

Bond information should be confirmed by phone because the inspected roster records did not publish bond amounts. The sheriff's registered bondsmen page says bond paperwork that is not completed or notarized properly will not be accepted, approved, or filed by the court clerk, and case numbers must be included if cases have already been filed. A person may also remain in custody due to a no-bond order, revocation, hold, warrant, state DOC issue, federal matter, or immigration transfer.

Major County Jail Lookup Limits

A person missing from the Major County Jail roster is not always free from custody. Sentenced state prisoners route to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections offender lookup, not the county roster. ODOC records can show state custody or supervision status, but ODOC warns that offense and sentence details may be abbreviated and not an exact explanation of the sentence or time to serve.

Federal and immigration custody use separate systems. The Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to present. ICE detention questions route to the ICE Online Detainee Locator System. The research found no BOP facility, ICE detention facility, state prison, work-release annex, or regional detention center physically in Major County. These routes are fallback paths when the person has left local jail custody or was never held at Major County Jail.
